This Production Index is full of resources in our film-friendly environment, where government officials and the local film community stand ready and willing to help.

With the unprecendented challenges to our economy we have impressed upon our lawmakers that now more than ever, Hawaii needs to maintain its competitive edge to keep bringing production to our shores. Act 88, our refundable production tax credit which has been in play since July 1, 2006, has generated more than $330 million in direct expenditures since it went into effect. This important incentive led to a record year of production in 2007 with a major feature film being shot in every county in addition to the hit TV show Lost, now in its fifth season. Act 88 offers a 15% rebate back on all qualified production expenses on the island of Oahu, and 20% back on all expenses on the Neighbor Islands (Kauai, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and the Big Island of Hawaii).
